01.

Indigenous Data

Indigenous data is data created by and about indigneous people. In our view data includes medical data, preservation of language and culture, as well as creative works.

02.

Intellectual Property

In the U.S. and around the world, the term intellectual property is understood to include patents, trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets. These distinct areas are governed distinct areas of law by country, and by individual states in the U.S.

03.

Data Sovereignty

The intersection of indigenous data, indigenous culture, and western intellectual property law do not have to be at a crossroads. Rooted Rights is working towards the protection of indigenous data through community education and advocacy to ensure individual and tribal data sovereignty.
